Canaan,
As I sit here tonight, I can’t help but marvel at how quickly time has flown by. It feels like just yesterday we brought you home, and now here you are, about to start the next journey of your life - kindergarten. My heart is overflowing with pride and a touch of nostalgia as I think about the incredible journey that waits for you.
Watching you grow into the bright, curious, and wonderful boy that you are today has been the greatest joy of my life. Every milestone you’ve achieved, every laugh you’ve shared, and every moment we’ve spent together has forever etched itself into my heart forming a tapestry of memories that I will forever treasure.
Tomorrow marks a new beginning, a significant step forward as you enter the world of kindergarten. This moment is a reminder that life has its own rhythm, and sometimes it moves so quickly that it takes us by surprise. As you turn away and take those first steps into the classroom, my heart will swell with a mixture of pride, excitement, and a touch of bittersweet sentiment.
I know, without a doubt, that you are going to do amazing things in kindergarten. Your curious little mind, your love of asking about numbers and your eagerness to learn will serve as your guiding stars as you navigate through the new challenges and experiences that come your way. Kindergarten is a place where you’ll make new friends, discover new and exciting things, maybe have a few experiments, as you love to talk about, and create lasting memories that will help to shape who you become.
I’m eagerly looking forward to hearing about your adventures on the playground, the stories of your lunchtime shenanigans, and the countless art projects that will soon cover our refrigerator. Every finger painting, every carefully constructed craft, they will all be tokens of your creativity and will be as unique as you yourself. And know that each and every one of these pieces of art will be a source of immense pride for me.
I know you will embrace each day with enthusiasm, curiosity, and kindness, and you’ll not only make us proud but also make the most of this beautiful journey.
So, my little kindergarten star, go out there and conquer the world with your heart full of wonder and your spirit full of courage. Your kindergarten year will undoubtedly hold countless moments of growth, joy, and discovery. Embrace them all, for they are the building blocks of the remarkable person you are destined to be.
As for me, I’ll be here, waiting, waiting for that clock to hit 3:07, waiting to see your handsome little face, waiting for all of your stories you will undoubtedly tell. I’ll be here, ready to soak it all in, because you starting kindergarten is a reminder to me, a reminder of how life has a funny way of just passing us by. So, I’ll be here, soaking in every bit of you that I can.
I love you to the stars and back…
- Dad
